The SIES High School remains the core of the SIES Education Society. In a meeting of the South Indian Association on 27th December 1931, it was resolved to form a body called The South Indian Education Society to work for the cause of the education of children in Mumbai and its suburbs. The society was registered on 21st April 1932, and a Primary School was started with six students in a rented garage on 6th June 1932. By the end of the first year the strength grew to 97 and the school moved to a larger premise. In the following years a plot of ground at the foot of the steps of King's Circle Station was acquired, and gradually the nucleus of the present large building of the High School was set up there and enlarged, and completed in March 1954, by which time it had 4200 students, and was one of the largest schools in the city.

The present strength of the SIES High School is Kindergarten 600, Primary School 1300, High School 2500, making a total of about 4400. For the past many years the school has had over 95% success at the S.S.C. examinations.

CEMRD was a conscious decision of the SIES management to maintain its competitive edge in the field of education. In a knowledge driven society, knowledge management is the key to success. This is particularly true of an educational institution, which is a repository of knowledge, acquired and developed through various sources and having various channels to share and to communicate the knowledge base at its disposal.

The objective of the CEMRD is to help improve management systems to Industries by providing relevant training to executives at all levels in the industry, government and non-government sectors to take on a leadership role in their position – individually and collectively. The focus of CEMRD interalia, includes:

The Centre for Professional and Distance Education was created in 2001 to reach out to students in our different institutions and also those in other institutions. Distance learning methods, was one of the objectives and it will become one of the main windows of information and learning when a self financing/autonomous university of SIES comes into place. The facilities for distance learning are being investigated and it shall be the endeavour of CPDE to reach out to as many students as possible globally. Virtual classrooms may also be created and interactive dialogue between the teacher and students at different locations will also be possible.
